Lakickas to Lead Mohawk Engineering Team
NILES, Ill.—Mohawk Mfg. & Supply Co. President John W. Brown has tabbed Dave Lakickas the new engineering manager for the 48-year-old manufacturer and distributor of transit and coach parts.
Lakickas, who starts May 22, will work with Mohawk staff engineer Kevin Armstrong developing new parts, ensuring Mohawk’s parts are manufactured to the highest standards, and assisting customers with technical concerns.
“I have always felt that one of Mohawk’s strengths has been our commitment to engineering,” Brown said. “I am very confident Dave and Kevin will continue our tradition of innovation and excellence for years to come.”
Lakickas is a 1996 graduate of the University of Illinois-Chicago (B.S. Mechanical Engineering). He comes to Mohawk after five years as a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Motorola’s Automotive Group. While there, he helped design and develop portable handheld GPS navigation systems and hands-free Bluetooth modules for both aftermarket and OEM customers. He was also the technical liaison to DaimlerChrysler and Mercedes Benz USA during the launch of Motorola’s hands-free vehicle systems for Mercedes’ 2005-model vehicles.
Lakickas was previously a project engineer for a division of Illinois Tool Works that designed plastic and metal fasteners for the appliance industry.
He and his wife, Jayne, live in Chicago with their three-month old daughter Abbey.
